In rural Uttar Pradesh, where 78% of the state’s population live, parents are doing everything they can to give their children a better future. Nearly 64% of the children attend private schools, hoping for quality education. But 68% of Grade 5 students can only read at a Grade 2 level.
Families spend a big part of their income on schooling, only to find themselves stuck in the same cycle they were trying to escape.
